HOW TO CREATE A WINTER OUTFIT
So winter time is here and I thought I’d share some of my inspiration plus some of my tips on how to create a winter outfit by adding different textures.
5 MUST-HAVE FASHION ITEMS FOR YOUR WINTER WARDROBE
Wardrobe tips:
1. Start with the basics. The basics are even more essential in a winter outfit as they are your building blocks. You want a good pair of jeans, quality tees, leggings and knits – in neutral colours. Yes, colour is great but starting from a neutral base will extend your wardrobe further.
2. Master layering. Layering not only enables you to dress for the weather that might change throughout the day but it also adds interest to your outfit.
3. Contrast textures. This is the key to successful winter layering. Combining luxe textures can add interest even if it’s in the same colour. Think leather, heavy lace, wool knits (chunky and fine), faux fur, felt – the addition of one or two or three of these fabrics and elements can combine together to create a stunning outfit that screams winter.
4. Look for textures in accessories or lighter pieces if in a warmer winter climate. You can add leather pants, leather jacket or cashmere cardigan over a tee. Even a suede boot over a regular leather boot says winter to me.
